Keeping with the DAR objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism, the Trumbull-Porter Chapter gives American History and DAR Good Citizens Awards to deserving high school seniors from our local high schools. Waterbury– Crosby High School, Kaynor Technical School, Kennedy High School, Holy Cross High School, Sacred Heart High School, Wilby High School, and Waterbury Arts Magnet School; Naugatuck High School; Watertown High School; Thomaston High School; Wolcott High School; Pomperaug High School for Middlebury and Southbury; Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury.
Two Jr. ROTC awards and medals are given to an outstanding cadet from Naugatuck and Crosby High Schools.
Students at Swift Jr. High School and St. John’s Schools in Watertown and Oakville have the opportunity to take part in the Junior American Citizens Awards.
The Trumbull-Porter Chapter awards chapter scholarships, the Gertrude Wells Russell & Marie B. Wells Scholarships, to two deserving high school seniors yearly.
Our chapter has given the DAR Community Service Award to outstanding volunteers in the community.
